Spironolactone is an extremely effective treatment in reducing the occurrence and severity of acne. Many women have found that using spironolactone in combination with birth control pills can help with acne, particularly menstrual related breakouts. Spironolactone should be taken with a full glass of water and with food or milk to reduce risk of upset stomach.

Avoid salt substitutes or other products which contain potassium while taking Spironolactone as the combination could result in dangerously high levels of potassium in the blood.
